Hominid Skull Set. This is not an Educational Kit, but rather a collection of Hominid skulls that can be checked out in person for classroom use. Teachers should feel free to combine the artifacts with lessons of their choice or creation. The Natural Sciences Education & Outreach Center collaborates with CSU faculty, National Parks and citizen science programs to translate their current scientific research into unique STEM experiences for students in the form of Educational Kits that can be checked out. Each kit contains just about all of the materials needed (minus common things like water and paper towels) to explore some really interesting scientific research topics. The kits are available for teachers and informal educators in Colorado to check out by submitting a local pickup form at the linked website. This collection is provided free for educational use. This collection is not availably for delivery. This Kit is available in Spanish.

Inclusion of STEAM Innovation Spaces: A Critical Issue for Learners with Disabilities
Conditional Remix & Share Permitted
CC BY-NC
Rating
0.0 stars

The fourth industrial revolution has provided a wide range of flexible physical and digital technologies that continue to enhance the teaching and learning of STEAM. Incorporating STEAM and building makerspaces, Fablabs (Fabrication Labs), and STEAM labs as part of the educational curriculum can serve as the right environment to empower learners to transform their ideas into tangible digital or physical solutions. However, the standards way of development of spaces such as FabLabs does not always guarantee accessible learning opportunities for learners with disabilities as they may require additional accommodations to be able to access and use the technology tools. This article confirms that children with disabilities face multiple challenges with inclusivity and accessibility. Creating inclusive innovation spaces that support, promote, and accelerate learning is essential and requires an understanding of the application of user-centered design, universal design, and utilization of local and global networks to create solutions that increase accessibility and create an inclusive environment.

inquiryHub high school and middle school curricula, guided by the Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS) and STEM standards in computer science and AI education, uses research-based approaches to teach science in a deeply digital environment, where students apply science and engineering ideas and practices to explain phenomena and solve problems.

The inquiryHub team led the development of courses in three- Biology, Chemistry, and Physics with Earth and space science integrated into each course. Featuring storyline instructional models and exciting new anchors, the units were selected using interest data from students. Additionally, all materials were field tested in more than 300 schools across the country to ensure they meet high standards for student engagement and learning. Through a collaboration with the Learning in Places Collaborative, we have integrated ethical decision making into phenomena and design challenges. Additionally, an integral component of the development process has been external validation of alignment to the NGSS by NextGenScience’s Science Peer Review Panel using the EQuIP rubric and reviews by educators who are part of Science Educators for Equity, Diversity, and Social Justice.

This bilingual curriculum and resources guide and is designed to help elementary school teachers organize instruction to increase achievement of Hispanic primary-grade children whose first language is not English. The guide offers a curriculum plan, instructional strategies and activities, suggested teacher and student materials, and assessment procedures. Because language development is a fundamental co-requisite for learning mathematics and science concepts, processes and skills, the lessons in many instances begin with literature (e.g., stories, books) and discussion activities that set the stage for posing questions and presenting conflicting situations related to the Big Ideas in mathematics and science that are the focus of the lesson.
