This module is part of the course "Intro to Mechatronics" at Lawrence Technological University and was developed through seed funding from the CAAT. This module consists of a PowerPoint presentation and accelerometer LabVIEW lab. Discussed in the Power Point are automotive sensors, actuators, and their use in powertrain (energy use, drivability and performance), body (occupant needs), and chassis (vehicle handling and safety). Some of the types of these sensors are rotational (crank or cam position), pressure (EVAP system or MAP), exhaust gas (oxygen sensor), and actuators (air bag inflators, relays, and injectors). Also included is a section on DC and AC motors operation and their automotive applications (HEV drive motor, window motor, and seat motor). The lab will introduce students to developing data acquisition for sensors using National Instruments LabVIEW software. For instructors who would like solutions to the lab, please contact the CAAT.

This is the last Module of the course on Open Access for researchers. So far you have studied about Open Access, its history, advantages, initiatives, copyrights and licensing, evaluation matrix for research – all in the context of scholarly communication. In this Module with just two units, we would like to help you share your work in Open Access though repositories and journals. At the end of this module, you are expected to be able to: - Understand the publication process involved in dissemination of scholarly works; - Choose appropriate Open Access journals and repositories for sharing research results; - Use social media to promote personal research work and build reputation. In Unit 1, we discuss the research publication process at five stages – planning stage, preparing stage, pre-publication stage, publication stage and postpublication stage. We emphasize the importance of social media in sharing and making your work visible to the target groups. In Unit 2, we focus on sharing your research through OA repositories and Journals. First we discussed the different types of repositories to select and highlighted the steps that you may consider including deposit in your own institutional repositories or in global open repositories. We then discuss the sources of finding and deciding on OA journals. This unit also provides guidance on choosing the right OA journals, as the quality of OA journals is often questioned. This course focuses on current topics in critical data studies scholarship. Students will develop tools and methods to think critically and engage the public in conversation about data and society.
The overall course and module are designed for asynchronous independent or group learning experiences. Instructors and students are encouraged to use the module as a whole or incorporate individual videos, discussion, writing and/or reading assignments into their course of study as desired.

Students visit Drayton Hall historic plantation near Charleston, South Carolina and are led on a field trip that starts with a discussion of documented historic changes that have affected the mansion and the surrounding property. The field trip continues with a study of Native American artifacts and ends with analysis of coastal plain deposits exposed along the Ashley River. Students use paleogeographic maps to discuss both historic and prehistoric changes to the landscape. Back in the classroom, students gather data to draw paleogeographic maps of their own school site through geologic time.

With knowledge and intention, those involved in the creation, adaptation, and use of OER can find and incorporate materials that center trans and gender diverse people. Doing this is essential for supporting trans and gender diverse students and educating everyone about these identities. This resource is a guide on how to make OER more inclusive and representative of trans and gender diverse people. It is intended to be easily incorporated into a scholarly communications course, while also being valuable to faculty and others interested in learning about the topic and how to make changes to their own course materials.

Few participants in the mock trial are likely to have taken part in a court proceeding or have first-hand experience with the process. Contained in this module are illustrations showing a typical courtroom layout, the location of the judge, the jury box, the witness stand, plaintiffs and defendants tables and the observer's gallery. The illustrations serve two purposes, one, to familiarize the user with the typical court layout so a similar space can be created in a classroom or where ever the trial is to be performed. The second is to allow participants to determine the most effective use of court exhibits. Knowing the courtroom layout will allow participants to accurately scaled exhibits and determine where to place the exhibits so they can be viewed by the jury and judge. Video clips of the Ohio State mock trial are included with this module information to give the user a sense of the trial environment.
