This manual, written in 1914, includes a very basic introduction to the colloquial Egyptian Arabic spoken in Cairo. The 80-page text focuses mostly on vocabulary and contains 28 different word lists. There is also a brief section on grammar, one on the Arabic alphabet and how it is pronounced in Egypt, and a collection of sample dialogues. Although the book covers the alphabet, most sections rely on transliteration into Latin characters. The filesize of the PDF is 5 MB.

Fingerspelling: A Mindful Approach will show us how to build a foundation of mindfulness and then ways of consciously and intentionally building our fingerspelling skills for the improvement of our ASL communication. Perhaps you are a professional ASL Interpreter, a student who simply loves ASL or any person, hearing or Deaf, who has within them the intuitive desire to communicate effectively. In the following pages we will tap into our innate desire and answer the question—how do we take a nuance of language, like fingerspelling, and with gentle persistent attention, strive toward clarity and understanding?

Welcome to Tex's French Grammar (la grammaire de l'absurde), a pedagogical reference grammar that combines explanations with surreal dialogues and cartoon images. Originally built for students at the University of Texas at Austin as a user-friendly guide to French grammar, this web site may be profitably used by any learner of French, provided he or she possess a sense of humor. Tex's French Grammar is arranged like many other traditional reference grammars with the parts of speech (nouns, verbs, etc.) used to categorize specific grammar items (gender of nouns, irregular verbs). Individual grammar items are carefully explained in English, then exemplified in a dialogue, and finally tested in self-correcting, fill-in-the-blank exercises.

How to be a journalist in the 21st century.pdf
Conditional Remix & Share Permitted
CC BY-NC-SA
Rating
0.0 stars

This textbook is an introduction to journalism, in the African and South African context, written for digital natives. The textbook is unique in the sense that students and the lecturer wrote it together, it is therefore a resource that focuses on learning through the eyes of students in Africa and the things they would like to learn to become journalists. The writers are Andre Gouws, lecturer in journalism at North-West University in Potchefstroom, South Africa, and his first-year and second-year students from 2021.

The purpose of this open textbook is to provide a general introduction to journalism in the 21st century to both journalism students and anyone who, perhaps unknowingly, create their own types of journalism. These new types of journalists include bloggers, entrepreneurial journalists, social media users, newsletter writers, and YouTube and TikTok creators, among others. In the digital era, journalism skills are valuable skills to anyone who creates or distributes news or information. Journalism skills include an understanding of news, the context of the media, legal and ethical issues around creating and distributing all types of content, and practical skills. This textbook contains ideas to help prospective independent journalists with journalistic entrepreneurship. Scholars agree that journalism can be defined very broadly today. It is no longer something that only trained journalists do. Knowing and understanding journalism will help everyone to tell better stories; to perhaps earn an independent income; and, importantly, to do it an ethical and compassionate way.
