Second course in a two-course sequence. Introduces and applies technical skills around beginning and managing a small business, including spreadsheets and the use of charts and graphs. Includes reflection and discussion of the application of concepts to a real-world example. Requires teamwork and collaboration to be exercised in completing a group project. Covers application of financial, legal, and administrative procedures in running a business.
Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:
Represent business models in spreadsheets including preparation of charts and graphs. Apply key business activities and the primary concepts and terms associated with these activities. Manage a business interacting with the external environment (through a simulation) and describe how this interaction impacts both business and the external environment. Implement the financial, legal, and administrative procedures involved in starting new business ventures. Identify ethical issues facing businesses. Effectively collaborate with team members and communicate professionally.

This course provides a general survey of the functional and interdependent areas of business management, marketing, accounting and finance, and management information systems. The course includes business trends, operation and management of a business, ethical challenges, environmental responsibility, change, global perspectives, and the dynamic roles of management and staff. Additionally, the course incorporates aspects of team interaction and continuous process improvement. You are provided with the opportunity to explore the Internet and information technology relating to business operations.

The key decision-making role of managers in modern organizations. Includes the study of organizations, management styles, and selected administrative problems. An overview of the processes involved in managing a business, including business planning, organizing, controlling, staffing and leading. Covers various theories of management with emphasis on managing a business in the local, national or international marketplace.

This course covers topics dealing with financing a business, analysis of financial statements, working capital management, short-and long-term financial planning, budgeting and control.

Course Outcomes:
1. Describe and interpret the four standard financial statements.
2. Describe the importance of current assets and liabilities.
3. Calculate and interpret standard business ratios including: current, inventory turnover, gross margin (profit), ROA, ROE, EPS, and A/R Days.
4. Discuss the difference between markup and margin.
5. Calculate break-even points and units needed to make profit levels.
6. Calculate working capital and estimate minimum cash reserves.
7. Track cash flows for an organization.

This course will provide you with a general survey of the nature significance of scope of marketing. It emphasizes customers (marketing analysis and strategy); business marketing decisions in promotion, distribution and pricing; and control of marketing programs.

1. Employ the basics of marketing, from identifying audience, market segments and value propositions, to product development and research, marketing strategies and advertising/public relations.

This course presents statistical analysis and quantitative tools for applied problem solving and making sound business decisions. Special attention is given to assembling statistical description, sampling, inference, regression, hypothesis testing, forecasting, and decision theory.

In this course, students will learn basic Microsoft Windows 10 Operating Systems skills (including Core PC Hardware Components, Graphical User Interface, Local and Cloud File Management, Applications, Internet Browsers, Security, and key System Utilities), Google Email, Contacts, Calendar, and Drive applications, as well as introduction to Word Processing, Spreadsheet and Presentation applications. Additionally, students will learn to create and convert documents between different format (Microsoft and Google apps).

This course is designed to use technology as a productivity tool within a business environment through the use and integration of various software packages. You will use word processing software for formatting business correspondence, creating tables, multipage document, graphical elements, mail merging, and other features. Spreadsheet software will be used to create formulas, use built-in function for calculations, create charts/graphs, reference other worksheets/cells, and create absolute cell references as well as other formatting and editing features. Presentations software will be use to produce, edit, and create visually compelling presentations for business outcomes.

Students will learn to create standards-compliant, accessible web pages using modern design techniques and technologies. This course prepares the medical coding student for detailed procedural coding in integumentary, musculoskeletal, respiratory, and cardiovascular systems. Additionally, this course prepares the student to use ICD-10 diagnostic codes as principal, primary, secondary, and tertiary medical necessity justification. This course also prepares students to competently select accurate HCPCS codes for supplies, medications, transportation, etc.

This course introduces terminology and gives an overview of the computer and information science. It focuses on the basic concepts of computer hardware and software systems, software applications, online inquiry, and evaluation of materials including ethical decisions. It also includes concepts reinforced in a laboratory environment. Through specific hands-on experience you will gather, evaluate, and solve real-world problems and form decisions based upon critical examination of today's technology.

This course is designed as a survey course to familiarize students with computer concepts including software and hardware, software applications, and living online leading towards digital computer literacy. Instruction in this course is provided through demonstration and discussion. Class time will be provided for practicing concepts as well as working through assignments; however, additional time outside of class will be essential to improve skills and complete the assignments.

This course presents an overview of the Microsoft Windows Operating System (OS), with emphasis on the OS design, configuration, operations, and applications. This course will also cover PowerShell scripting and includes researching, documenting, and presenting a key OS function.

This course in an introduction to project management. The art and science of project management has evolved much over the last 1-2 decades. At this point, 2017, all small, medium and large companies use structured project management methodologies and guidelines to run their internal and external projects. My objective is not to teach you how to become a project manager, that will require many courses and hands-on experience, but to teach you how to become an effective team player on a structured project.|A practice-oriented course with examples, applications and proven techniques that demonstrate systems analysis and design. Actual organization, business settings, and project management software are used to show how systems concepts can apply to many different types of enterprises. Project lifecycle as well as project management software, terminology and concepts are discussed.

This course will assist students in developing effective and successful social media marketing campaigns. Students will examine how the choice of social network and social media tools affects the distribution of the message and the audience that is reached. Students will have the opportunity to formulate a social media marketing plan with an appropriate target market using relevant social media channels.

This course is designed to train prospective teachers, theatre practitioners and those interested in broadening their skills in the of leading creative drama sessions within the classroom, studio or recreational facility. Class activities are designed to support curriculum development as well as promoting drama as an art and discipline.
