Intermediarios: Introduction to Spanish<>English Community and Legal Translation and Interpreting is intended for students who have advanced skills in both Spanish and English and a basic familiarity with translation and interpretation. Activities are based on the U.S. context. Translation activities increase in difficulty. The sequencing of interpreting activities develops skills gradually by beginning with memory exercises, then moving into class role plays, and finally working with legal interpreting exercises of increasing difficulty. Judicial interpreting activities target the three modes of interpreting used in the judicial setting: sight translation of documents, consecutive interpreting, and simultaneous interpreting.

To make optimal use of the design space, you have to know about these rules and requirements. Execution of the mock trial is the capstone of the learning modules which comprise this website. The instructor needs to function as a true sideline coach, both in the efforts leading to the trial as well as when the trial is executed. Knowing how the end goal, the trial, should flow the instructor should be effectively leading participants to prepare for the trial. Corp. includes understanding of the role of the character they are training, becoming proficient in the profession of the character and being able to communicate the characters opinion clearly in a court of law using whatever exhibits that best tell the story. The mock trial will execute more effectively if they trial attorney or actual court judge can serve the role of the mock trial judge. These persons experience will be invaluable to the trial's authenticity and effectiveness of the learning effort. If someone from the legal profession serves as a judge, it would help the overall effort for the instructor and a person to coordinate continually during the pretrial activities.

The left navigation panel displays the academic departments with the overview and objective of the department. Also, navigation to the specific departmental classes, with corresponding OER content, are found at the bottom of the academic department pages. You can also directly navigate to the specific converted class, by clicking on the course title under the department tab. When clicking on a specific class (e.g. Science 110), the link takes you to the course description, learning outcomes of the course and a link to the OER content for the specific course. The OER content features creative commons OER Textbooks, vetted open Internet sites, academic journal articles and library owned streaming video, requiring a login to the John Jay Library. Each academic department features a link to "Discussion and Comments". In addition all pages have navigation arrows to previous pages and next pages. On many of the OER content pages, the class calendar by week is featured with links to the reading assignments.
