This Microsite Hub (MHub) is dedicated providing collections of materials serving the needs of PK-12+ Mariachi Education teachers in the state of Colorado. We have collections broken up by subject area, as well as grade level and specialty collections. We also have active groups serving diverse Mariachi communities of practice. Feel free to make a group for your school or district!

To join the Mariachi Colorado Hub, visit the "Join the Mariachi Colorado" Group in the "Join" tab and ask to join. Once approved, the Mariachi Education Hub will appear in your "My Hubs" section of the Microsite. If you have a collaborative group you'd like to form on the site, reach out to info@oercolorado.org to approve your logo.

Note that not all resources in the OERColorado collections align with Colorado state standards, state guidelines, or local guidelines. We advise all OERColorado users to consult with their district and/or school Curriculum Specialist if there are any questions or concerns about use of these resources.

Mariachi Connections

St Vrain Valley School District Mariachi Programs

Award Winning Mariachi in Elementary, Middle School & High School

St. Vrain Valley School District received recognition as the Best Communities for Music Education designation from the NAMM Foundation for programming including Mariachi. Indian Peaks Elementary offers introductory Mariachi to younger students, with the programming continueing in middle school at Timberline PK-8.

Mariachi Halcones is the premier performing mariachi at Skyline High School. This ensemble is highly engaged in the local and regional community and performs at a large number of high-profile community events every year. Participation requires previous experience in mariachi, both playing and instrument and singing, and also requires passing an audition. Music from all sub-genres of mariachi are learned and performed.

Viva Southwest Mariachi Festival at MSU-Denver

The Metropolitan State University of Denver Department of Music along with the Latino Cultural Arts Center (LCAC) welcome you to the Auraria Campus for the annual Viva Southwest Mariachi Conference .

Our mission is to build Colorado as a national center for Mariachi excellence by building a pipeline of talent from the community to higher education and professional careers.

The weekend festival includes mariachi education, performance, awards and Festival Garibaldi an outdoor exhibit or Colorado Mariachi & Folklorico groups of all ages, celebrating Mexican music, dance, food, education, and entertainment!

Colorado Mesa University Mariachi Club

Colorado Mesa University professor Javier de Los Santos hosts a spring Mariachi club culminating in a Mariachi concert on campus to raise funds for music scholarships. The club is open to the community and encourages musicians of all ages and abilities to experience the joy of Mariachi.
