In this lesson, students will consider how Germans resisted what the Berlin Wall symbolized during the Cold War by examining the musical cultures that developed in East and West Germany. To do this, students will watch clips from CNN Soundtracks and analyze primary and secondary historical sources such as newspaper articles, cartoons, interviews, and photographs.

In this lesson, students examine how Crosby, Stills, Nash, and Young's "Ohio," Merle Haggard's "Okie From Muskogee" and Edwin Starr's "War" articulated the divisive feelings Americans had about the war in the late 1960s and early 1970s. To supplement these songs, students will also watch clips from CNN Soundtracks and analyze polling data, news articles, and photographs from the era.

In this lesson, students will identify the origins of Third Wave Feminism and explore the diversity of the movement's demands, attitudes, and tactics by immersing themselves in three musical cultures from the 1990s: the Riot Grrrl punk rock scene exemplified by the band Bikini Kill, the female-fronted hip hop scene exemplified by Salt-N-Pepa, and the Tejano music sphere exemplified by Selena.

Today, 21 countries in Latin America, Europe (Spain) and Africa (Equatorial Guinea) have Spanish as their national language. In the United States, it is offered as a foreign language course in the majority of high schools and, with a growing Hispanic minority, the number of people who use the language increases by the day. Over 500 million people speak Spanish worldwide, and Spanish is an easy language to learn for fluent speakers of English or a Romance language. Spanish-speaking countries have beautifully rich cultures, something especially notable in literature, food, music, and the arts. Throughout this course, there will be 'knowledge sections' that contain facts about Spanish-speaking countries and their cultures. This is a culminating activity designed to have students interpret structures in hand sample. Enough hand samples are chosen for the number of students in the class. Students are given a short amount of time to observe all samples. Music is started and they walk around the samples until the music stops. Each student must then present a description and interpretation of the hand sample in front of them.

Music and sound are two different concepts that share much in common. Determining the difference between the two can sometimes be difficult due to the subjective nature of deciding what is or is not music. The goal of this activity is to take something constructed by students, that would be normally classified as just sound and have the class work together to make what can be perceived to be music. Students construct basic stringed instruments made of shoeboxes and rubber bands. This activity aims to increase student understanding of what distinguishes music from sound.

She describes the adjustments made as they move to rehearsing on stage at the Lexington Opera House.

In Part One of this lesson, students are introduced to apartheid in South Africa. They watch clips from Steven Van Zandt and Arthur Baker's Sun City documentary to learn about apartheid, and attempt to experience what life might have been like during apartheid through a classroom activity. Then, students consider ways in which apartheid could be fought, and whether elements of apartheid in South Africa also existed in the history of the United States.

In Part 2 of this lesson, students view clips from the Sun City documentary and explore how musicians united to challenge apartheid. In a group setting, students will consider the various strategies activists, corporations, and other governments used to isolate the South African government and hasten the end of apartheid. Finally, students consider how apartheid relates to segregation in the United States.

Students explore two new scenarios that involve solving systems of equations. The first situation involves the travel time for a round trip on an airplane, while the second situation involves calculating the numbers of students and adults attending a high school musical. By the end of this lesson, students will improve their understanding of how using mathematics to model a real-life situation with two variables can help them solve problems.

The purpose of this textbook is to provide resources about teaching low brass instruments to music educators and future music educators. The book was developed by the author as part of the open/alternative textbook initiative at Kansas State University. The research project of this Ph.D. in Digital Media has as objective the creation of a tool (object of learning) for pedagogical aid in teaching the production of visual effects in audiovisual productions, more specifically in the interactions between real and virtual images (match moving).

The prototype created during the research has the purpose of assisting teachers and students in the practical exercises of interaction between real and virtual images.

The tool has the ability to assist in data collection at the time of live-action filming, given the large amount and complexity of these data, and its vital need for the reproduction of real conditions in the virtual universe later.

In addition, it has the ability to generate a script (in Maxscript language) for its use in 3DS Max graphics software, automating part of the production process.

It is also part of the research, besides the conception and creation of the tool (learning object), its validation in the pedagogical and design bias (user experience and user interface).
